FORECAST DISSCUSSION 907 PM EDT Jun 12 2004
Short Term...
The main forecast challenge is the chance for rain tonight, and the possibilty for severe weather tomorrow... Tonight, an area of low pressure is over Minnesota, with a cold front into western Iowa. A large area of thunderstorms have developed over western Iowa, and are tracking eastward. They are loosing intensity, and look to be nothing more than a couple showers by the time they reach our area. A warm front currently through central Indiana, and Ohio, through Illinois, and Minnesota... this warm front will move northward slowly overnight, ushering in warm humid gulf air. Tomorrow, depending on the amount of sun we recieve, with the unstable air-mass in place, and a cold front nearing our area, some severe weather is possible. The main threats would be Straight-line winds, and large hail 3/4 of an inch or greater, also, a tornado is possible around the warm front as it moves northward. With temps tomorrow in the lower 80s, and dewpoints in the upper 60s to around 70, MLCAPE values of 2500-3500 J/Kg, and LLJ Indicies of -5 storm may develop... Though, the storms over Iowa, are creating quite a big plume of cirrus clouds, these clouds may contribute to really no heating or fuel for the thunderstorms, I am a bit concerned about the fact of no sun tomorrow, just as today. So, i will update as i get updates on this situation. Temps tonight will fall to about 63. Highs tomorrow for the KBTL area will reach 83... EARL1389....49014

Sunday through Friday... There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms on Sunday, due to a powerful cold front moving into the warm humid airmass over the area. It is with these storms that large hail, damaging winds and even an isolated tornadoes will be possible. Thunderstorms are possible Tuesday and Tuesday Night. Wednesday,Thursday, and Friday... NO HAZARDS EXPECTED.... EARL1389...49014
